first bag!

Introducing the first bag for fusibles!

first plastic bag bag, wooo! by you.

It should be listed tomorrow night... I have no idea what to call it yet.

The design is simple but classic, with two large pockets. I'm so glad the pockets turned out as well as they did, I didn't want them to be flat and unusable.

It was really refreshing to use fused plastic for something other than wallets- they can get so tedious after all. I'm looking forward to making many more bags with more complex designs.

First tutorial and MY wallet!

I made my first tutorial! Hooray!

check it out here!

I'm actually keeping the wallet I made for it :D Right now I'm using a prototype, and that leads to some frustrating conversation. ("I make plastic bag wallets. But the one I have is a prototype... I swear they get better than this!!!")

I love the front design on this one... I used five different colors of thread and so. many. little scraps. And it's all mine, huzzah!

SHOP IS UP!

Hooray! fusibles went officially up with 10 items listed two days ago. I am so excited! Addie (mateycouture.etsy.com) helped me with tags, which I just finished editing. Thank you to everyone at Threadbanger for all your support!

I took a massive amount of pictures on Monday. My original plan was to take them at a park for a more natural background, but unfortunately it was raining. So I grabbed a white sheet and chair and created a more classic, pristine background. Maybe it was better I did it this way. They came out very well.

So without further ado, my first 10 items!

First blog post!

Wow, I have a blog. That's so weird. As you have probably figured out, I started it for the small business I am about to start, selling wallets (and other accessories) made out of plastic bags. But I will probably be including some separate projects too.

So first an intro to me: Carly. I like to make things (obviously) and my current favorite is making wallets out of plastic bags. So surprising, I know. I also have an obsession with drawing celtic knots. (Well, what else would you do during math class?) Music is extremely important to me. I can play the guitar and piano, I sing in a choir and am taking voice lessons. I adore the Beatles, Pomplamoose, Imogen Heap, Kate Nash, Elton John, and many many more. I'm also a huge geek. I love internet culture, Star Trek, and science fiction in general. I adore British humor, I'm a huge fan of Monty Python, the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Eddie Izzard (thank you Janice!). Some of my other favorite things include: Japanese food, awesome jackets, hats, shiny objects with unknown origins, ThreadBanger (duh), parentheses, internet friends, and interestingly colored plastic bags.

Good transition :D My Etsy shop WILL be open by winter break. I have an account, but I want to start out with at least ten wallets. And I need a logo and banner.
As soon as I get a good rhythm with my etsy shop, I want to start selling them at a certain store in San Francisco. The owner was impressed with my wallet when I shopped there. Woot!

So yes. This is gonna be fun, and I'm really excited! :D
